Every individual has a different tooth color which ranges from white to pale yellow spectrum. Unfortunately for some people, their tooth color tends to stain at a quicker rate than others which is often due to hereditary issues. Other than hereditary issues, there are also external and internal factors which leads to discoloration of teeth.
External factors include:
- Foods and beverages high in acid
- Foods and beverages dark in pigment
Internal Factors include:
- Side effects from some medications
External factors that cause tooth discoloration stain the enamel, or surface of the tooth, and can be generally removed by teeth whitening. Internal factors that cause tooth discoloration stain the dentin, or layer beneath the enamel are difficult to remove by teeth whitening. Those with this type of staining may see a notable improvement in tooth color while others with internal staining may not.
The teeth whitening process focuses on the use of a bleaching agent which lightens and brightens the color of teeth, enamel, and dentine (the substance below enamel). A carbamide peroxide formula, the usual bleaching agent develops an oxidation reaction which scrubs away stains and reveals a whiter and glowing smile.
Instawhite ensures 18% usage of hydrogen peroxide in the whitening gel and along with, we also make use of light and heat to optimize the whitening gel so that the high concentration, sensitivity causing gels, are not necessary. The Instawhite system has been clinically proven safe with effective results.
Depending on your oral hygiene and lifestyle habits, the longevity of teeth whitening procedures can vary immensely.
Is the LED safe? I’m concerned about the blue light.
Instawhite uses LEDs (light emitting diodes) that emit blue light. Blue light has a wavelength of approximately 470 nm (nanometers) and is part of the “visible light spectrum”, which ranges from approximately 400 nm to 700 nm. The entire process is absolutely harmless and has no negative effect on the human body at all.
Teeth whitening procedures are typically safe when conducted properly. But then also, some people do experience sensitivity during or after the process. This is considered normal and due to the nature of the procedure, which is why our whitening kits come with desensitizing agents.
NOTE: Some people notice a whitening or sensitivity of the gums, but this is only temporary. Additionally, there are things you can do to reduce the sensitivity you experience, such as:
Rinsing your mouth out with warm water afterwards
Using only soft bristled toothbrushes
Skipping meals that are hot, cold, or overly spicy
Using a toothpaste designed for sensitive teeth
Keeping in mind that, most of the time, tooth sensitivity will only last about 24 hours
Unfortunately, teeth whitening procedures will not change the color of any caps, crowns, fillings, or veneers. Modern whitening gel can only effect organic tooth enamel. However, excessive buildup and/or staining on the artificial restorations will be removed during the whitening process to reveal its original colour.
Instawhite uses advanced formula along with superior quality ingredients, like, Sodium Bicarbonate, Sodium Percarbonate, Polyvinylpyrrolidone, Glycerol, Propylene Glycerol, Deionized Water, Triethanolamine, Carbomer, Carboxymethylcellulose Sodium, Menthol.
